Bullitt Central High School

9/26 Cougar News

Cougar News is Bullitt Central’s weekly newsletter with important updates, upcoming dates, and celebrations for our students, families, and community.
Legacy Builders

Our theme this year is “Build The Legacy.” Each week, we are proud to spotlight students in our newsletter who are leaving their mark as true "Legacy Builders"—making a difference in our school and beyond.

These students go above and beyond by showing leadership, serving others, and living out the values that strengthen our Cougar community. Their example reminds us all that building a legacy starts with the choices we make each day.

📚 Join the Fun with Beanstack!

We are excited to share that our district has purchased Beanstack, an online reading platform that helps students (and staff!) track their reading, join challenges, and celebrate progress together!

From October 3–December 12, our students will be participating in a schoolwide reading challenge. With extra time in 4th period, we’d love to see our students with books in hand, enjoying reading, and logging their minutes in Beanstack. We would also love to see more students visiting the library and checking out books than ever before!

Why this matters:
Reading regularly not only builds strong literacy skills but also develops focus, creativity, and a love of learning.

Celebrating Success!
Each week, our top readers will be celebrated and recognized on our school social media and in the Cougar Newsletter. Plus, there will be fun incentives for students and staff—more details will be shared soon from Ms. Prasch!

Thank you for encouraging your student to read at home and log their minutes in Beanstack. Together, we can grow a community of readers and make reading fun for everyone!

✨ Transformational Lesson of the Week! ✨

We are proud to recognize Ms. Morris and Ms. Wimsatt’s Ethical Leadership class for bringing one of our school-wide goals—Enhancing Student Voice and Ownership—to life at BCHS!

At the beginning of the year, students selected the leadership committee that best fit their passions and strengths—social media, decorations, student section, climate & culture, or support team—giving them authentic choice and ownership in shaping our school community.

In the process, they are living out our Graduate Profile competencies by becoming:

✨ Productive Collaborators – working together within their committees to reach a common goal.
✨ Effective Communicators – sharing ideas, listening to one another, and using their creativity to bring ideas to life.
✨ Self-Directed Navigators – taking initiative, managing responsibilities, and following through on commitments.
✨ Community Contributors – building a positive school culture that brings pride and unity to BCHS.

This week, students have taken the lead in Homecoming preparations—decorating the school and gathering input from their peers to shape spirit dress days, the pep rally, and the student section theme for the game. Their leadership is making sure Homecoming truly reflects the voice of the student body while building excitement and unity across our school community.

Their efforts are not only creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere, but also showing how student leadership can truly transform our school culture. 🐾
