🌟 Transformational Lesson of the Week: Ms. Becker and Ms. Fleace’s English 1 Classes! 🌟

We are excited to highlight Ms. Becker and Ms. Fleace for this week’s Transformational Lesson of the Week! Their English 1 students are engaging in a powerful, authentic learning experience by creating informative websites 💻 that advocate for meaningful change they want to see in the world 🌍.

Using rhetorical strategies to persuade their audience, students are:

🔍 Conducting reliable research on relevant issues

🗂️ Organizing information in clear, effective ways

🧠 Analyzing content to ensure their message is purposeful and impactful

Their work is guided by the driving question:
💬 “How can we use our voices and actions to create change?”

This lesson is a strong example of how instruction at BCHS supports our district’s Graduate Profile. Students are growing as:

📚 Mastery Learners as they build strong research and writing skills

🗣️ Effective Communicators by crafting a clear message for a public audience

🤝 Community Contributors as they advocate for meaningful change

💡 Innovative Problem Solvers while designing and refining their websites

👥 Productive Collaborators as they support peers throughout the process

🧭 Self-Directed Navigators as they make choices about topics, research, and presentation

We also want to celebrate how Ms. Becker and Ms. Fleace seamlessly co-teach in this classroom. Their shared instruction, coordinated support, and consistent student-centered approach create an environment where all learners can thrive.

Thank you, Ms. Becker and Ms. Fleace, for empowering students to use their voices, take action, and make a difference!
