🌟 Transformational Lesson of the Week: Ms. Austin! πŸŒŸ

We’re excited to recognize Ms. Austin for this week’s "Transformational Lesson of the Week!"

Earlier this week in English 1, students explored how to determine which AI tools are effective for educational research. They then presented their findings to peers and engaged in thoughtful feedback and discussion. This learning experience laid the foundation for their current project:

πŸ’‘ Driving Question: How can we take an active role in influencing how AI is used in the careers we pursue?

Students are now using AI to explore its role in their future career paths β€” and how they can shape its use responsibly and effectively.

This lesson reflects all five Transformational Learning shifts:

✨ Personal – Students are connecting AI to their own future careers and aspirations.
πŸ—£οΈ Learner-Led – Students researched, evaluated AI tools, and led peer presentations.
🌎 Real-World – The focus on AI’s role in careers prepares students for real challenges they will face beyond school.
🎯 Learner-Owned – Students are developing their own perspectives on how AI should be used in their chosen fields.
🀝 Collaborative – Peer presentations and feedback fostered meaningful dialogue and shared learning.

Through this work, students are growing in key Graduate Profile competencies:

πŸ”Ή Innovation Problem Solver – Analyzing AI’s role and proposing ways to influence its use

πŸ”Ή Effective Communicator – Building arguments supported by sound reasoning and evidence

πŸ”Ή Community Contributor – Addressing real needs within future career fields through research and advocacy

πŸ‘ Thank you, Ms. Austin, for creating learning that empowers students to think critically about their future and their impact on the world!
