πŸ€–βœ¨ Transformational Lesson of the Week: Mr. Connor! βœ¨βš™οΈ

This week, Mr. Connor brought Manufacturing Engineering to life in a powerful, hands-on way! Students explored mechatronics by collaborating in teams to design and build a working conveyor beltβ€”just like those used in major industries such as Ford and Amazon.

This project is building toward a real-world challenge: students will be challenged to think like engineers by identifying and quickly fixing a problem on an assembly line where downtime costs $1 million per minute. Talk about high stakes!

This lesson beautifully connects to our Graduate Profile competencies:

πŸ—£οΈ Effective Communicator - Students clearly shared ideas, explained designs, and communicated problems and solutions within their teamsβ€”just like real engineers working under pressure.

🧠 Innovative Problem Solver - Troubleshooting conveyor belt issues required critical thinking, creativity, and quick decision-making to minimize β€œdowntime.”

πŸ“š Mastery Learner - Students applied engineering concepts in a meaningful way, learning through trial, error, and iteration to improve their designs.

🧭 Self-Directed Navigator - Teams took ownership of their work, managing time, tasks, and roles to meet project goals independently.

🀝 Productive Collaborator - Success depended on teamworkβ€”students relied on one another’s strengths to design, build, test, and refine their systems.

🌎 Community Contributor - By engaging in real-world applications tied to industry needs, students are developing skills that will positively impact their future workplaces and communities.

Huge shoutout to Mr. Connor for creating an engaging, real-world learning experience that prepares our students for success beyond the classroom! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰
