Friday Message from Mr. Lightle

"You made it through the week—take a moment to recognize your effort. Whether this week felt like a win or a challenge, showing up every day counts. As we finish strong, thank someone who helped you this week, and remember to take care of yourself heading into the weekend. Finish proud."

Charger Connect Weekly Focus

This week during Charger Connect, students strengthened essential soft skills while building empathy and resilience through our CharacterStrong programming. Each grade level engaged in developmentally appropriate lessons and activities designed to support personal growth and well-being.

Freshmen: Students focused on perspective-taking, exploring how experiences differ from person to person, and why it can be challenging to fully understand someone else’s point of view.

Sophomores: Students engaged in discussions around mental health and well-being, learning strategies to support their own well-being, and recognize the importance of self-care.

Juniors: Students participated in a class meeting to learn about the upcoming transition from the ACT to the SAT. They received important information about the SAT and the resources available to support them.

Seniors: Students explored how they can use their influence to positively impact others, making the connection that leadership is influence and that their actions and choices matter.

Charger Connect continues to provide meaningful opportunities for students to develop skills that support both academic success and personal growth.

Kentucky Youth Advocates (KYA) Visit's Charger Nation

Ms. Mobley from Kentucky Youth Advocates (KYA) visited Ms. Cook’s and Ms. Grubenhoff’s classes to speak with students about the importance of youth advocacy and how young people can play an active role in creating positive change for kids across Kentucky. She shared how KYA works to improve policies and systems that impact children through research, advocacy, and amplifying youth voices.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to present the advocacy issues they have been researching and developing. Ms. Mobley provided meaningful feedback on their ideas, discussed how students can move their advocacy forward, and explained which issues are currently being discussed in Frankfort. The experience helped students better understand how their voices can influence real-world policy and change.
